Leighton made a good start to their first league game of the season creating some early chances but it was Waltham Forest who took the lead against the run of play.
Gabbie Avola equalised with a well struck short corner just before halftime.
Waltham Forest caught Leighton on the back foot and scored two quick goals to go 3 1 up.
Leighton fought back and pulled a goal back, Avola again with another well executed strike from a short.
After end to end hockey Forest were awarded a flick and increased their lead to 4 2.
Leighton continued to press and were quick to respond. An Avola pass across the goal was met by a diving Kirsty Scrivener who flicked the ball in the top right corner.
A determined Leighton surged forward and continued to apply pressure, with some great hold up play from Karmel who set up Avola to bag her hatrick.
A well fought 4 4 draw.
