On a bit of a windy Saturday, Leighton Buzzard Ladies 1st X1 took on Wallingford on home ground.
Leighton started strong with an early goal from Gemma Jones running the ball straight into the goal. This attacking approach continued leading to a second goal from Karmel Brazier to take them to a 2-0 lead!
The rest of the first half consisted of some great attacking play from Leighton Buzzard, passing the ball around the back to maintain possession. During a Wallingford short corner Megan Claggett had to come off for an ankle injury right before the half time whistle blew.
Wallingford came out fighting in the second half and it took a few minutes for Leighton to regain control of the game, but once achieved they maintained it for the rest of the second half. Leighton dominated possession throughout the game, maintaining structure and communicating as a unit.
After a few unsuccessful attacking breaks and 1 vs 1s for Leighton, Laura Brown scored the third goal with a powerful shot from the top of the D.
Wallingford fought hard during the last 5 minutes of the game with last short corner of the game being awarded to them, with Kirsty Scrivener coming out strong to block their shot at goal as the final whistle blew.
A well deserved 3-0 win.
