Leighton Buzzard Ladies 1st Team vs Oxford University 2nd Team

Leighton had a tough game ahead of them against top of the league.

They started off on the back foot with Oxford going 1-0 up within the first 5 minutes however Leighton didn’t let this get the better of them winning a short corner minutes after. Karmel took first stroke and nailed it into the goal. The game was back to level playing. From that point Leighton dominated the game, with several attempts on goal. Leighton gained a short corner which saw Gabbie on the left smash the ball towards the goal where Scriv provided a beautiful deflection in.

Half time Leighton felt comfortable but knew they had to stay switched on. The second half saw Oxford step up their game applying more pressure to Leighton. Even getting the chance at an open goal however Charlotte Ashton was there to stop the goal going in with a solid clearance. Once again Leighton received a short corner with Kathy stepping up to take first strike, which she hammered into the backboard. Leighton remained calm throughout the game, no matter how much pressure they were under, they hussled. The final result was 3-1 to Leighton a well-deserved 3 points
