Sexy hockey hits Hertfordshire.....?

It was a very sunny and sweaty day when LBHC Ladies 2s took to the pitch against Tring. With a differing line up and nursing several injuries from rusty joints, LBHC got off to a bit of a slow start. However, after finding their feet, they began to play some sexy hockey, playing some lovely triangles up the left hand side of the pitch between Lisa and Hannah. After begging to play in quarters they found themselves not wanting to break for the first quarter having just built up some momentum. In the second quarter they worked hard with Tring transferring the ball across the pitch but the forward line of Katie, Lisa and Emma C pressed hard and chased the ball down well, creating some good opportunities on goal.

The midfield rotating between Emma S, Mel, Laura and with Anna supporting from centre half, held strong as Tring tried their best to pass their way through. Breaking the play down well, gave the opportunity for Emma E to show the attacking side of her game up the right hand side of the pitch connecting up with Cookie. Both teams had several short corners but neither team were able to capitalise.

With the score still 0-0 and Leighton now carrying an ever growing injury list, the final quarter of the game saw a renewed pressure from Tring, a quality side who play a division above Leighton. The defence held strong for attack after attack with Llinos continuing her strong defence and forward runs and Jo making some crucial saves in goal. Charlie was solid throughout the game in defence, making some awesome last ditch tackles and making it impossible for Tring to get through, earning her the well deserved Player of the Match. Final score, 0-0.

Instructions

Information from Tring as follows:

For matches at home the team playing in the next session (training or games) will not be allowed onto the pitch until the current participants have left

No access to the pitch until the first group of participants has left the playing area, when waiting social distance rules must be complied with

At Tring school there is a car park/playground by the astro where players can warm up, there is plenty of space but just watch out for cars just in case!

For Matches, there is a maximum of 30 people allowed onto the playing area, including umpires. At Tring there is no seating area, the spectators will need to be outside the fence.

The following are the FAQ’s from the EHA website:

Q: Are Umpires included in the maximum of 30 people to be involved during a match?
A: Yes, they are but anyone not involved at one time (e.g. substitutes) is not included so the maximum number of people involved in a game at one time should be 24 (2 teams of 11 plus 2 umpires). Everyone else is outside the field of play and socially distanced.
Q: Do we have to record Spectators, and are they included in the 30 people to be involved during a match?
A: England Hockey’s guidance is specifically related to playing hockey and breaking the government guidelines for general life of social distancing due to the nature of playing the game. Spectators have no need to break this social distancing regulation and hence should adhere to it at all times. Therefore, they do not need to be involved in the club’s monitoring of hockey being played.

At Tring the toilets are inside the sports centre building, and at Halton they are inside the clubhouse.

The coaches are allowed onto the playing surface, the rules about registration and leaving their track and trace details apply.

Meet at Tring. Meet time TBC. Please follow government guidance on travelling, especially if you have to share a car.
