Six Appeal

Leighton Ladies 2s smashed six sweaty goals.

The last friendly before the East league starts next week and we brought everything from training to the pitch for a scorcher at Vandyke.

First quarter started hard with some beautiful passing between the midfields and forwards. Lisa and her speedy legs put away the first goal from open play with a great assist from Katie.

Leighton won a short and with Mel captaining the set pieces Katie slotted away a straight strike.

The defence, Andii, Lorna and Rachel were strong, closing down any counter attacks from Luton, pulling it wide and distributing to the midfield. Terri often found herself in the right position to receive beautiful long balls from defence giving her great opportunities on goal.
Lisa buried another cracking goal with her partner in crime Katie assisting.

A well earned water break and then on with the second quarter.

Another short allowed us to try a different successful set piece as Mel got the goal after Emma E’s left slip.
All game we aimed to get the rebounds on the keepers pads which payed off for Anna with a sexy slide in between the keeps legs, during yet another short.

The quarter ended with a goal by Luton but that didn’t phase us, Leighton were on winning form.

Half time and we were all realising why hockey is usually a winter sport as the sweat was dripping off of us.
The third quarter was quieter, we let the ball do the work to conserve our energy ready for a hard final 15. Despite that Mel and Emma S powered on making leading runs and posting up to give us movement through the middle of the field.

As the game drew to a close, Lisa and Katie’s composure in the D allowed them to slot in yet another goal taking Lisa to a Hattrick.

All round an awesome game. Bring on the league!
