Leighton started strongly with all players taking on the new formation well, LB piled on the pressure from forwards selfie and Sarah and inners Jess W, Jess D and Emily winning our first short corner early on, a perfectly weighted pass from Kelly gave Katie a clean strike and nailing the ball to the backboard to take the lead, beautiful linking play from wingbacks Florrie, Hannah and Kelly to Neve kept the ball in our attacking half and soon after Kelly fired a ball into Katie who found Zara on the back post who slotted it behind the keeper to lead 2-0 at half time.

Harpenden started the 2nd half strong pushing more players forward and managed to find a gap and bring a goal back, some super saves from debut keeper Carey kept LB in the lead and some beautiful transition work from our defence of Andii, Rachel and Lauren kept possession and preventing Harpenden from an equaliser, Leighton finally stepped up the pace in the last 10 mins and an admirable run from Jess w into our attacking D found Zara back post again to seal the victory, a great and positive game played from the whole team.
